Tarot Reading for the Collective ~ October 2015

Today marks the day that Mercury goes direct once more, and I thought we would all need a tarot reading to celebrate. This Mercury Retrograde (from September 17 – October 9) seemed to be more a bit more of a doozy than usual this time around, and I figured that we would need extra strong help for this month’s Tarot Reading for the Collective. So I got out the Dark Goddess Tarot by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince. Powerful and deep, this deck gifts us with a goddess for each card, and can help us dive into what needs to be seen, so that we can hopefully emerge with more clarity and connectedness. Let us see if this happens!

First up we have Lovers ~ Freya, striking a powerful pose and reminding us of the grace that comes with aligning our mind, body and spirit. Lovers, do you have anything you wish to share with us?

Yes, my darlings. Connect with the demons and dragons, for they are a part of us too. Connect with your fierceness and gentleness, for they are both worthy of attention. Connect with water and fire, as they will both expose the icky parts you need to discard (or learn to love) in order to feel at peace with the world. Connect with inner power so that you can face what comes next.

What comes next? Oh, Five of Earth (Pentacles) ~ Demeter

Yes, it’s me. Things may look like they are falling apart at times, and while I’m sure you have plenty of evidence that this could be truth, there are things currently unfolding behind the scenes to bring everything back together. Or everything that is meant to come back. Some things may be discarded, but the trick is to not get too lost in how you want it to be. Let things just be as they are for now, and work with that.

If the problem isn’t going anywhere, then your relationship with it will have to change if you are to continue contributing your wise voice to us all. And if you can’t find the wise voice? Then excavate until you find it. No short cuts. Take the hard road if necessary, but take it knowing that if you stay authentic in your willingness to come out of suffering, things can shift in a rather surprising way. And if it repeats, it will be different next time. Different in perhaps an easier way.

Navigate the way forward with an open heart. Remember that having an open heart is never the problem – it’s your lack of boundaries that need to be worked on. Set your boundaries strongly, and move forward from there. I don’t want to repeatedly hear your sufferings from years ago, I want to feel the heart of your story. I would like to eat your moans and spit them into a black hole. But I think you would grow more if you ate them yourself, defecated them and flushed them down the toilet.

Hullo Hanged One ~ Tiamat, do you have something to share?

Uh. Yes! Oh. This is tiring. All this seeing and seeing and seeing. There is so much to see and a lot of it is making me sad. Yet a lot of it is quite fascinating too. Did you know that some people unknowingly run away from joy, in order to have a dramatic and stuck existence?

I have also been watching people who are having a hard time but are trying so hard to come unstuck from their current predicaments. People who are taking responsibility for themselves and aren’t just flinging blame around like it’s a bad smell. I like watching these warriors.

I want you all to be able to find the space every day to observe what is going on around you, and go quiet until you feel the stress leave you – even if it only leaves for a few breaths. From that space, you may start to notice what life is offering you. Perhaps it’s offering you a way forward that is laden with kindness. Kindness that will fuel you until you can take the best course of action once more.
