Dear Collective,
My apologies for this tardy reading! From the end of August until September 10 I was sitting on a cushion with my eyes shut, meditating at the Vipassana meditation centre in Blackheath and thus ignoring you all. Then I got back and it took a wee while to get into the swing of things again. There is quite a pace to full-time tarot reading and all the admin that goes along with it! So here we have, as we cross over into the final part of September, this month’s Tarot Reading for the Collective!
I just used the Dark Goddess Tarot by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince for a marriage equality post on Instagram, and realised it was time to crack this powerful deck out for the Collective again! It is also the birthday month of Ellen, the creator of this deck. Happy Birthday Ellen!
The questions for September are:
What archetype supports us to show respect?
What archetype supports us to uphold dignity for all?
What archetype supports us to grow in wisdom?
What archetype supports us to make life count?
Let’s begin!
[Interestingly, the first three cards in this reading are the exact three cards that came up for the marriage equality post! I swear I shuffled! For a long time!]
1. What archetype supports us to show respect?
Nine of Water ~ Lady of the Lake
Know that the power people try to assert from the upper echelons of this constructed society is a shallow power, a decaying power, a power that is dying and waiting to be buried. Take yourself to the river, to the ocean, to the lake, or to the puddle and notice how it reminds you to take a breath and remember where you stand or sit in this world.
Even the most polluted water offers us more than the polluted ideologies that humans unfortunately tend to grab onto like a dog on a bone. So seek not to offer respect to the societal codes that condemn and vilify. Instead endeavour to show respect to the conversations that flow with quiet humility, to the voices that grow bold with clear insights uncovered through thorough observation, and to the human who stands strong in self-awareness and self-knowledge – despite the lies that trickle past their ears by those afraid of what it means to wake up.
2. What archetype supports us to uphold dignity for all?
Corruption (Tower) ~ Tlazolteotl
I will come for you in the night time and push your deepest fears out of you. I will cut those fears out of your throat so you do not speak corrupt things that should never have formed past a seed in your brain. I will chew on those fears and vomit them into oblivion. I will be your ominous shadow if you allow yourself to believe those who tell you not to think for yourself. I will take a step back and let you pass as you emerge from the misery that told you some were lesser than you.
I will support you to uphold dignity for all by showing you the alternative in your darkest nightmares – the alternative where it is you who is persecuted by the ignorance of others. Don’t let the dying ways pollute your brain. Let me show you how to cut out the crap so that I don’t have to do it for you.
3. What archetype supports us to grow in wisdom?
Magician ~ Isis
Grow in wisdom by letting colour and magic into your life. Follow the steps of the wise ones in your world – the ones who take their path seriously enough to follow it diligently. Integrate the experiences you have actually lived, rather than the words of those who are not you and never were you. Make sure that what you are creating belongs to your heart and let the beauty of that fascinate you as you gracefully gather mysteries that will reveal themselves to those who value intuition as well as practicality.
I will help you grow in this way by alerting you to insights that you have formed in your brains before, but you’ve since forgotten. I will remind you to integrate those insights so that your discoveries are not neglected. It is important to do this not only for yourself, but for the people who observe you, and who seek to be inspired by you.
4. What archetype supports us to make life count?
Siren of Fire ~ Qadesh
I will support you to make life count by reminding you those are bodies you are in! You are not here in this form in order to ignore your sensations and live in your heads alone. Get into your bodies, notice what you enjoy about how it feels to be in your body and express that through your movements.
If you can’t enjoy your body right now because of limitations of pain or movement, then enjoy the way your breath stills your brain, even if only for one breath.
Make life count by holding yourself dear and knowing your body is sovereign. Seek consent at all times and respect the boundaries that others place around themselves. They are not trying to harm you, they are just seeking to move freely, without agitation.
And as often as possible, seek to break away from how society told you friendships were supposed to be. Thrive as you embrace your kindred, sharing your heart, honouring their secrets and speaking well of their existence. Extend this to your lover/s and always make sure that what you explore with your favourites is worthy of legacy.
